A stunning crescent beach and a fishing port, Mirissa, a visual treat, is a popular party destination of the young and restless tourists.
On the southern tip of Sri Lanka, Mirissa happens to be the largest fishing port which is home to the tuna, mullet, snapper and butterfish. It is the natural habitat of a good number of aquatic wildlife and hence attracts people from all over the world for ecological holidays. What to See
Secret Beach
If you want peace and wish to laze out, this tiny secluded beach is perfect for you. The beach can be easily reached by a tuk tuk after walking for 10 minutes. Incredible sunsets and perfect silence is the USP of this beach.
Coconut tree spot
About 15 minute distance from Mirissa Beach, this small coconut farm on a hilltop is a beautiful sunrise and sunset point. While taking a walk, be careful as the coconuts keep falling from the trees.
Snake Farm
Just 12 km north of Mirissa is a Snake Farm which is worth visiting. Here you will find around 20 different snake families, and 25 are released in the jungle every year.

The beach is full of reefs hence there is an excellent opportunity for snorkeling and surfing. You can opt for stay in the guesthouses here that offer snorkeling packages with gears.
Whale Watching

How to Reach Mirissa
By Rail
Board the train from Colombo Fort to Weligama and then take a tuk tuk to Mirissa.
By Road
Take an AC highway bus till Matara from Fort in Colombo. From Matara, you can hire a Tuk Tuk.
