St.Clair’s Fall
Little Niagara of Sri Lanka, as it is known, this is one of the widest waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Here you will find two waterfalls Maha Ella (26 ft) and Kuda Ella (160 ft) which are equally breathtaking.
Pedro Tea Estate
Take a guided tour of the tea factory and enjoy the lush greenery of the region. Overlook the plantations and also witness the process of making tea.
Lover’s Leap
A few steps away from Pedro Tea Estate is an enchanting waterfall which has a romantic folklore attached to it. Here you will find a Rock Face and a Lord Shiva shrine. It is said that a Prince and his lady love jumped to death into this waterfall from the Pidurutalagala mountain.
Hakgala Botanical Gardens
A peaceful retreat, the botanical complex has a fine rose garden, a Japanese garden, an orchid collection, cedars and giant cypresses. As per Ramayana, Hanuman was sent by Rama to find Sanjeevani - a medicinal herb. He could not identify the herb and hence decided to bring the entire chunk of the Himalayas. The garden grows on that very rock called Hakgala or 'Jaw Rock'.
Seetha Amman Temple
About a kilometere from the Hakgala Gardens is a small colourful Hindu Temple. As per legend, this is the spot where Sita was held captive by Ravana. She used to pray everyday for Rama to come and rescue her.
Galway’s Land National Park
Nestled in the dense patch of montane forest, Galway’s Land is one of the country's smallest national parks. Sprawling over 57 hectares, it is a bird lover's favourite spot. One will find 10 Sri Lankan endemics, buffalo, wild boar, barking deer alongwith many other mammals.
Best time to visit
March till the mid of May is the perfect time to visit this place. Though rest of the year sees average climate and the highest temperature would go upto 31 degrees Celsius.

By Air
Hire a sea plane from Cinnamon Air; it takes about 30 minutes to reach Nuwara Eliya.
By Rail
The Udarata Menike Upcountry Train from Colombo to Badulla is the best way to see the beauty of Nuwara Eliya. The panoramic views of this place can be viewed during this journey.
By Road
Nuwara Eliya is connected to Colombo via Kandy and via Hatton. You can choose from a good number of public and private buses which are much more faster than the train journeys
